Hammer-town is a dwarf-run outpost on the East side of the Iron Dragon boundary, which the players have found themselves in after each having the same mysterious dream, one which involved walking a path through the Shadowfell that left them unable to return to the place from which they had come. The dreams differed with regard to the path, but in each dream a cloaked figure watched from afar and beckoned eagerly toward a destination, and each dreamer was compelled to follow. Finding themselves suddenly awake in a strange land, the natural compulsion of each of our heroes was to make their way to the local tavern, the Bamboo Screen, the only building in the whole town, ironically or not, whose walls are not made of bamboo or paper screen-work, but stone(mostly to prevent the building from being utterly decimated in the event of a fight). They have not come here without the notice of the townspeople, who are somewhat suspicious of newcomers, seeing as they literally haven’t seen anyone new in over two-hundred years.
If one of the adventurers rolls a Nature check of 15 or higher, they’ll mention that the stars would seem to indicate that their current location seems to be East of the Iron Dragon Wall, a place bounded literally by an over-long Iron Dragon named Teppeki, an exarch of Bahamut sent to guard this land from foolhardy mortals. The reason for this is not known.
A history check of 25 or higher will recall hearing of an old dwarven expeditiary force that was tasked with crossing the boundary several centuries ago, but no one ever knew the fate of that force, since they never reported back, but it’s obvious from the state of things, and the clearly divergent culture of the place, that this is what remains of that same force.
